TABLE OF CONTENTS

 

My UNIV 200 Final Inquiry Project was intended answer these questions:

1) How did military technological growth impacted the soliders as individuals? 

2) Does the pace at which the military technology is growing effect the soliders?

3) How can we define soliders now versus soliders in 1700's and 1900's?

4) Why is it important to slow down our military technology advancement?

5) What are human robots, and how is military technology growth impacting the production of these so called "human robots"?

 

I may be extreme on my rejection towards further military technological growth, but this does not mean that I don't support technological advancements.  Yes.  There were great changes that occured due to technological growth.  And yes, I support that technology has made life much more comfortable and convenient.  However, I want the readers to know the consequences of technological growth, and the alarming rate at which our technology is accerelerating.  (My topic is specifically in proving that military technology growth had gone wrong, but the idea of technology do more harm than good, is the same idea.)  We may be blinded in thinking that we are headed towards a "world of bliss", but instead we might be headed towards "human destruction" (in an extreme case).  My intentions of writing this Final Inquiry Project was to open the readers' eyes to the actual problems of this world, and to wake them up from their dreams.

Where did military technology derive from?

  • Define what it means to be a human robot solider

  • How far does military technology go?

 

We should be careful about the consequences of military technological growth.  Since we don't know where and how fast these advancement would take us, it is wise to think through the consequences before creating military machines.

Soliders are more dependent on military technology

 

  • Looking at the advancement of gadgets and machines used in WWII verus Middle Eastern Wars (Afgahnistan & Iraq War) and how machines and gadgets effect soldiers

Soldiers helpless without military technology

 

  • Soliders are enslaved by military technology

  • Becoming a robot themselves

  • Machines and gadgets become their minds

  • Technology controlling the soliders

Revisiting the military technology history from the American Revolutionary War to World War II - and how military technology had taken a wrong turn.

COUNTER ARGUMENT:

  • Why military technology advancement is bad?

  • More death rates caused by military's weaponry advancement

  • Good vs bad effects of military technology growth

Psychological Effect of security and assurance from having weapons

  • Soldiers feel more protected when they are holding a weapon of their choice

  • Mass media promoting gadget warfare and violence 

  • Belief in the idea of victory and superiority with more weapons

Robot Overload.  Please don't fire our soldiers.

So, what now?  What's going to happen?

Re-stating the Claim:  Military technology advancement will lead to creation of human robots.  Soldiers will be brainwashed and enslaved to military technology.

 

Worst Case possible:  Leading to human destruction

Human robots = no emotion, no feelings, no empathy, etc...
